Excellent video and ingenuity in such a simple yet useful design. One thing is you can buy packages of stainless-steel skewers to use on the BBQ for a couple of dollars at the Dollar store or Walmart which should work well . Also you can get brass tubing in different sizes at hobby and craft stores for a few dollars as well that could take the place of the telescoping magnet tubes. Neat thing about this idea is that it can be made to accommodate burners of different types easily. I am going to make two of these , one using the measurements of yours and another a little shorter to work well with an Altoids tin stove. Even though this video is old it is still useful today to many people! Thanks for the idea and excellent video!
Hello Robert Australia your rope idea works very well i put the 3 inch rope in electrical tube sealed ends keeps all clean when reqired cut off one end tease out fibers and light with flint or match great idea thank you
The fanny pack is also a hip belt, even if you don’t put anything in it
Great video! de W2CSI
This pack (8/27/'24) runs for about $55.00!!! Thanks for your video. I put the link below to the Sportsman's Guide surplus store. Hope you don't mind the share.
@@bradleysmith4409 good to know.. don't mind at all
Will gasoline not degrade the oringa in that lyndel valve?
@@GospodinJean that I'm unsure of over time. I don't run gasoline in frequent enough to know.. I would probably only use that as a last result.. it's pretty nasty to burn imo.
Very bad propagation ve3bde
Thanks for the video. I have looked for the tarheel and can only find it at HRO. Lots of questions still. Have a great summer! All the best from north Texas. 73 de KI5HXM.

Nice! I think things are so much better when someone has modified it a little so it works for them.
Nothing personal, but for me, after having owned an ATAS with 857D, Tarheel all the way!

Nice ladder, and I have two versions of them. Great purchase that will last a lifetime! Who knows, we may see that ladder being used to hang another EFHW for that FTDX10?? 😊

@@KE8ODY-WV-Ares-Ham-Dad-3O4 after going from the 991a I was a bit dusapointed in that... but now I can work it with my eyes closed pretty much
Very good, I bought one and I am waiting for it to arrive, so in my case at the moment I have 2 antenna a vertical + a G5RV while now using the switch box and currently a manual tuner! afterwards with the 998 if I want it to memorise settings for both antenna I have to remove the switch box correct?
Where can I buy the polaris pump?
I don't remember exactly where I bought it.. but search optumus fuel pump and you works find it online.. not sure what the price would be now
So the coil is connected to ground and the tuning wire is connected to the center of the so239
Yup. NOW stick it into a metal tube that it can slide down into, copper or ...aluminum, stainless..now you can pull the rope into the tube to snuff it out, use it repeatedly instead of just burning it up . Guess what you just made? The same thing that Uberliben fire steel company sells😁
I have a Viavi TRI-LKG-ANT-DUAL-DUCK Rubber Duck Antenna for Seeker HL , (who would buy it?)
Back in the day we had a stool that we sat on when we milk cows
A man of many interests, keep the videos coming PJ
way too many at times lol
I Myself have many interests, camping. canoeing, fishing. local history, wildlife, Scout group, and most off all HAM radio, (M7SUK) We did chat back last November with Roger. i should have mentioned motorcycles.
Good comparison
The other option is to use the Primus ErgoPump. Both the Primus pump and the Optimus pump are way better than the crappy MSR pump. And everyone needs to swap over to Lindal valves.
Keep up the yt grind man remember to be safe
Big lighters are single use pieces of plastic, when the fuel is used you toss it in the trash. Buy a Clipper lighter instead, you can refill it with lighter fuel and change the flint when it gets worn down. I have many Clipper lighters, the oldest is over 25 years old and still in use.
Plus u can remove the flint so you can store it in a smaller waterproof container for garunteed sparks
I'll look into them.. but I carry multiple lighters as well as other fire starting methods.. usually have at least 2 fire steels, flint striker and 2 or 3 bic lighters.. none are in the same pack.. that one just struck me as odd. in 20 years I've never had one do that before.
thank you PJ I enjoyed the hike
I wish you would have done a video making it and showing where and how you bent the wires
You panicked that chicken!!
you can tell she's used to my shenanigans.. keeps em on their toes for hawks.
Finally! An actual comparison video that's straight to the point. Thank you!

13:51...same month and close to same time and same date as I worked him last year.
Just wondering. Has anyone tried one of those cross stands you can put on a trangia stove in conjunction with the triangle? Would that work? Thinking of getting a triangle and already have a cross stand.
Added to that,..if you were to slide the piece of rope inside a similar sized metal tube, when wanting to put the flame out, simply slide the flame inside the tube and it will snuff out.
Good contact Brother 73
big score. congrats!
very cute dog you have
Nice idea. Thank you for sharing your idea and the way you fabricated it.
Hi is this a software upgrade or aftermarket software upgrade/third party enhancement for this radio? It looks amazing on screen!
yes this is a third party software.. RC1BU for xiegu x6100
Great video very informative thank 73 de 2e0ree
You could have sold your MSR and then have bought the whole Optimus kit instead of mix and match but I agree who wants to start changing jets if you don't have to I've got the polaris and appreciate the build quality the stability the control ability and the smaller sized burner in case you only want to heat up a cup of water I liked your video well explained and videoed
I didn't even know the Optimus existed when I bought the MSR. had it for a while.. but when I came across a video of a guy that had the pump using it with MSR I started looking at them.. but I thought they were quite a bit louder than my Whusperlite with the videos I watched. but really wanted the pump.. I have no regrets.. optimus definitely makes a much sturdier pump, maybe even sturdier stove. but sure cause I can't compare the two.. maybe one of these days
Mumble, mumble, mumble.... sorry, not loud enough to understand.
